Treasurer Retires
Treasurer of the New Zealand Football Association for the last 12 years, Mr J. Cowie retired from that position at the recent annual general meeting. Mr Cowie, who has been on the N.Z.F.A. council for 16 years retired because of pressure of business. “In any case, it’s about time someone else had a go." he added. But his services to New Zealand soccer will not be lost: he is remaining on the council. Mr Cowie has been a firstclass treasurer for the N.Z. F.A. whose one great disappointment has been that he has never had the steady flow of income to have made his job worthy of his ability. He represented Auckland as a goal-keeper in his younger days and was a member of the Auckland control board for six years until he moved to Wellington. In addition, he was also an outstanding New Zealand cricket representative.
