Scientist Retiring

HAMILTON, March 23. A senior research scientist with over 20 years’ service at the Ruakura Agricultural Research Centre, Miss D. E. K. Walker, has retired. She is well-known for her work with beef production studies, and for her investigations with sheep. One of her projects was to establish the meat production potential of average pasture under average grazing and management. Results of this research work established a basis for the economical evaulation of various stocking policies. More recently Miss Walker has carried out research work on cross-bred beef production She also worked on carcase evaluation and the development of grading systems for beef cattle.
