CYCLISTS SEEK APOLOGY
“A full and unbiased apology” has been sought from the president of the New Zealand Amateur Cycling Association, Mr T. D’E. Cuff (Palmerston North), by the Canterbury Centre, for his behaviour at the national hard track championships at English Park.
Writing on behalf of the centre, the president (Mr H. C. Poore) said that Mr Cuff had persistently questioned the referee’s rulings, criticised the local organisation and referee publicly, and was biased in the presentation of medals to place-getters from the West Coast-North Island centre, of Which he is a member. Mr Cuff also criticised the centre at the opening ceremony when, in his speech, he said: “There have been a few things wrong, but we’ll get them ironed out later.” When the letter from Mr Poore was received at a recent meeting of the N.Z.A.C.A. council, Mr Cuff said he could not recall the remarks he had made at the opening ceremony.
Mr Cuff also told the council he was “sure that this was not one of Canterbury’s best championships,” and could “see no need for any apologies on my part.”
Rugby Selector.—The former All Black haW-back and captain, Mr A. R. Reid, is Waikato's new Rugby selector Huis year. He succeeds another former AM Black, Mr E. H. Catley.
