<1) Letters sent to the Editor for printing should preferably be typed, otherwise they must be written in Ink on one side of the' paper only A legible signature and full address are required whether these are to be published or not. A P O box number is not a sufti .cient address. (2) Writers must say clearly whether or not their letters are being or have been sent io other papers <3> The Editor cannot return or keep any letter which for any reason is unsuitable for printing; nor can he acknowledge unsuitable letters although this will be done where It seems to be need ful. or enter into any cor respondence. 14) Letters must not be of more than 150 words. Plain Words. —Our reference was to the second edition of Fowler, published last year. Watchman.—Only the churches’ attitude to Rhodesia is open for discussion in this column just now. Mark D. Sadler.—You do not make It clear whether the 45 per cent refers to Africans’ education. Correspondence must for the time being be kept to the question of the churches’ attitude to Rhodesia.

Observer.—Your letter would have led to further discussion on the merits of the rival aircraft. Our news columns are open to the spokesmen of the aircraft companies concerned; and it would be better for them rather than for any anonymous correspondent, to contest Mr Peake's claims.
