Busy With Calls For Census Forms

WELLINGTON, March 23.
Government census officials have been inundated with calls during the last three days from people who did not receive census forms.

“We have had three telephones working continuously for three days and hundreds of people have been calling into the office for forms.” Mr Kennedy said. It was the number of flats in Wellington which had caused the majority of these people to be missed by distributors. They had not known that the flats existed. F
“Some elderly people have come to the office to ask for assistance.” Census officials could be accompanied by police to make an unco-operative person sign the forms, he said. This had happened only once in Wellington, but the people concerned agreed to fill in the forms before the police arrived.
