Truck Left Road

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 23. A man died early this afternoon in the Frank-

ton Hospital as a result

of injuries suffered when the truck he was driving left the Coronet Peak road. He was John Wade Matheson, aged 54 single, of Wanaka.

Mr Matheson, who was driving a truck belonging to the Wanaka Transport Company, was returning downhill, at about 11.45 am. yesterday morning aftbr spreading shingle on the Coronet Peak road, when he attempted to pass a laden truck moving up the hill. The road was narrow and the bank gave way. The truck plunged for about 200 yards rolling several times and Mr Matheson was thrown from the cab. He was taken to hospital by the Queenstown ambulance, but died early in the afternoon of severe head injuries and compound fractures of the right leg.
