Devastation Goes Well

“The Press’' Special Service WELLINGTON.

Devastation and Carlsberg, which are in the North Island Challenge Stakes and Railway Handicap respectively, galloped attractively at Otaki yesterday in preparation for Trentham on Saturday. Very few other horses galloped. Trials were recorded on the outside of the course proper where the going was good. Devastation started slowly at the six furlongs and picked up speed to run the last five furlongs in Imin 2 l-ssec. He was joined at the half-mile by Playboy but he proved far too good for his companion and finished two lengths in front after running the half-mile in 48 2-ssec and the last three furlongs in 46 3-ssec.

Carlsberg galloped well to beat Bravo by five lengths over half a mile in 50sec after running the last three furlongs in 37sec. Carlsberg has improved a good deal as the result of ils race at Rangitikei.
