BANDON FIT
Lively Trial For Trentham "Th* Press" Special Service PALMERSTON NORTH. Bandon, Serena and Tilly Light captured the spotlight at Awapuni yesterday morning when they ran fine trials for the first day of the Wellington meeting on Saturday. Another to go well was Bellechasse, which is engaged at Napier Park. On the inside trial Bandon revelled in his work over a mile with Tilly Light in Imin 42 2-ssec. the last three in 38 2-ssec and the first three in 38sec. Bandon has rarely looked or worked better and he will strip a fit horse in the Chalmers Handicap. Tilly Light kept with him all the way and it looked a winning trial for the Ngaio Highweight.
Beliechasse held Moka Moka at the end of haW a mile in 50 2-5 sec, the last three furlongs in 37 2-ssec. Bellechasse was very impressive and might have needed her recent race at the Woodville meeting. She will be hard to beat in the Novice Stakes at Napier Park. On the course proper Serena beat Roman Consul by a wide margin over five furlongs in Imin 4sec, the last three in 38 sec. Serena’s work was faultless and her wide draw may not stop her running well in the Tinakori Handicap at Trentham. Roman Consul is a possible St. Leger runner on the second day.
