WOLF CUBS’ JUBILEE
Celebrations On Saturday
Canterbury wolf cubs will celebrate 50 years of cubbing at the Blue Skies training and camping ground at Kaiapoi on Saturday when Wolf Cub Day will be held. About 2000 cubs are expected to attend.
Activities for the cubs will include a pack project, based on cub efficiency, a “find-a-pal” game and a treasure hunt.
Displays by police dogs, a motor-cycle corps, and model planes will be held in the afternoon. Competitions for the best “antblitter” song composed by cubs will also be held. The Mayor of Kaiapoi (Mr H. O. Hills) and the Mayoress will visit the cubs during the afternoon to inspect their work. The day’s activities will end with a bonfire at which the competition winners will be announced.
Mr K. A. Twaddle, senior veterinarian to the Ashburton Veterinary Club, has been selected for the 1966 Cooper veterinary post-graduate scholarship valued about £6OO. Mr Twaddle will visit Australia, Europe, the United Kingdom, Canada, and the United States.—(P.A.)
