First-Flight Covers

Arrangements have been made by the Post Office for first-flight covers bearing either one-way or return New Zealand addresses to be accepted for carriage on the Air New Zealand inaugural flight to Singapore. The Chief Postmaster tn Christchurch (Mr J. W. Lincoln) said yesterday the return covers should bear double airmail rates of postage, and could not be accepted for other than Singapore or return New Zealand addresses. Special date stamps would be used on all covers carried on the outward flight from Auckland. Covers should reach the Chief Postmaster, Auckland, not later than April 4. The wrapping or envelope in which they are contained must be endorsed “covers for carriage on inaugural flight to Singapore.” The postage one-way on unsealed covers is 6d and on sealed covers Is. Return postage is double those prices.
