CAMBRIAN SOCIETY

Anniversary Dinner

Welsh cakes and tables decorated with daffodils and leeks were features of the dinner held last evening to celebrate the founding of the Cambrian Society 75 years ago. More than 100 members attended.

Greetings to the society were received from Wales. Australia, and other parts of New Zealand. The opening toast was proposed by the Rev. K. Schollar, a bard of the Cornish Gorsedd and Mr A. R. Ireland proposed the toast of the Prince of Wales: Members then sang “God Bless the Prince of Wales.” A toast to St. David was proposed by the Rev. L. Jones and the toast of Wales was proposed by Professor R. F. Peterson.

Miss K. Parry-Edwards read two poems in Welsh and Mrs M. Thomson then proposed the toast of the founders of the society. The evening ended with members singing “Rhondda.”
