N.Z. Wines Praised

AUCKLAND, March 1
The quality of New Zealand wines was so good this year it was difficult to select the best, the chief judge for the New Zealand wine section of the New Zealand Easter showsaid at Epsom show grounds today.
"The wines are getting to the standard where it is difficult for judges to separate the very good from the good,” said Mr D. J. Lagen, who heads a panel of six judges and an associate. A few years ago, there were always a few that stood out. he said, but now “the general standard of all the wines is improving.” There are 260 entnes in 19 classes for the annual judging this vear. down slightly from the 289 for 1965 The judging will end tomorrow.
