EXTENSIONS GRANT

A grant of £25,831 has been approved by the Department of Education for the extension of the Christchurch Girls’ High School hostel. A letter from the department was received at the monthly meeting of the board of governors of the school The extensions include the provision of a new dormitory, and enlargement of present communal facilities, including the dining room. Work had already begun on the renovations and it was hoped that the major portion of the project would be completed by the end of the August term holidays, said the secretary to the board (Mr P. J. Halligan).
