LAKE PLAN OPPOSED
Development Of Ellesmere The North Canterbury Acclimatisation Society is opposed to the development of Lake Ellesmere as suggested by the Canterbury Progress League. The society’s council decided last night not to appoint a member to a committee to be set up by the league to investigate the development of the lake. The meeting agreed that a representative on such a committee would carry little weight, but decided to appoint the game committee’s chairman (Mr G. Mugford) as an observer.
The president (Mr F. J. Gorton) said the executive committee was still awaiting a reply from the league to a number of questions about the proposed development programme.
