MELBOURNE TELECAST
Christchurch Reception A Melbourne television station—Channel O—was received last night co the television set of Mr N. D. O. Sanford, of 45 Torrens road, HiUmorton, with almost the clarity of Christchurch telecasts. Mr Sandford said be had received sound and pictures quite regularly from Auckland, Sydney, and Melbourne in the last five months. “At one sttage last night we were watching cricket from Australia,” he said. “It cuold well have been the test match between England and Australia from Sydney, although there was no sound. The picture was very good. By the time I walked away to answer the telephone and came back it had disappeared, and Channel O had come on instead,” he said. Mr Sandford said it was the first time since January 2 that he had received the Melbourne station.
