GALES LASH BRITAIN

150 Stranded On Ferry

(N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) LONDON, Dec, 29

More than 150 people were stranded on a cross-Channel ferry as 90 m.p.h. gales and heavy seas lashed Britain last night.

The ferry, the Dover, made three attempts to dock after crossing the English Channel from Boulogne. The attempt was abandoned and the vessel sought refuge in calmer seas. “There are a limited number of cabins on board." a British spokesman said. “We can, however, make all the passengers quite comfortable." Snow reached southern England while Scotland had its worst snow conditions of the winter.

Floods in Wales made many minor roads impassable, with water up to six inches deep.
