Indonesian Budget Surplus Reported

HONG KONG, Dec. 29.

Indonesia will have a budget surplus next year, according to Dr, Surjadi, Indonesian Minister of State Budget.

He estimated the surplus at 200 million (United States) dollars (about £72 million) savings in expenditure. However, the Army would continue to get about 35 per cent of the total amount of the budget. Indonesia's budget deficits In the past had been mainly caused by inflation, Dr. Surjadi said. The Minister, accompanied by his wife and two officials, is on his way to Manila to represent President Sukarno at the inauguration of President Marcos. He was talking to reporters in Hong Kong. Vice-president Proposal In Djakarta, the official news agency Antara reported that members of the Legislative Council of Bandung, West Java, have proposed that General Abdul Haris Nasution should be made Vice-president of Indonesia to help President Sukarno speed up the Indonesian revolution.

At the Djakarta suburb of Senayan. President Sukarno today opened a new textile spinning plant. The Minister of Textiles, Brigadier General Ashari, said that the plant was the biggest textile producer in Indonesia.
