TEAM DELAYED
The halt to New Zealand’s internal air services yesterday has delay, ed the arrival of the Northern Districts team to meet Canterbury at Lancaster Park today. The game now will not start before 11.30 a.m. The Northern Districts team finished its match with Central Districts at Tauranga on Tuesday, and was to have flown to Christchurch yesterday. „ . Instead, it went to Frankton Junction and travelled to Wellington by train. The team is expected in Christchurch this morning by a special flight. Northern Districts, which has a good record against Can-
terbury in recent seasons, will be led by B. Sutcliffe, one of New Zealand’s greatest batsmen, who will be playing at Lancaster Park perhaps for the last time.
E. C. Petrie, an accomplished wicket-keeper, W. P. Bradburn, a former New Zealand opening bat, T. Puna, a fine off-spinner, and W. J. Mitchell, a young batsman of particular promise, are among the best-known members of the team.
Northern Districts lost to Central Districts on the first innings in its opening shield match at Tauranga this week. Canterbury will choose its team from the same 12 players selected for the Auckland game.
