WOMAN SHOT TO DEATH
Two Nieces Wounded

AUCKLAND, Dec. 26.
A Samoan woman was shot to death and her two nieces were wounded in an incident at her Avondale home on Christmas Eve.
The dead woman was: AIRS Ni l LOUISA TA VITA, aged 42, mother of seven children, of 114 St. George’s road.
Detectives who rushed to the house arrested a man soon afterwards. A .22 rifle was found in the grounds of an adjoining house.
The injured women were admitted to Auckland Hospital where their condition last night was reported to be satisfactory. They are Mrs Luneta Brown, aged 23, mother of three children, who suffered bullet wounds in the chest and a leg, and her sister, Miss Berthajilary Waterhouse, aged 26, a typist, who was shot in the stomach.
Both live at 114 St. George’s road
An inquest into the death of Mrs Tavita was opened before Mr H. L. Allen, J.P., on Saturday. Evidence of identification was given by Mr Talavau Ta-
vita, husband of the dead woman. and the hearing was adjourned. A man w’ho was arrested by the police will appear in the Auckland Magistrate's Court tomorrow on a charge of murder.
