SCALED FENCE
Sea-lion At Hastings
(N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER, December 26.
One of Napier’s new sealions escaped from custody and romped around the Marineland dolphin pool for about two hours on Thursday night. After spending three weeks in a cage the oldest of the three sea-lions, a three-year-old female, scaled a 4ft fence and plunged into the large dolphin pool, already occupied by five dolphins.
The Marineland trainer (Mr A. Dobbins) said today that the pool had to be partemptied and the sea-lion lifted out with a net.
By this morning the three partly trained sea-lions from Los Angeles were well barricaded in one corner of the present dolphin pool enclosure.
