Waltham Road

Sir, —I would like to ask when Waltham road is going

to be cleaned up. It is a disgrace, every bridge full of rubbish. A while ago there was a depression in the road. After a few days along came a gang of men who dug out the hole, filled it in, and swept the rubbish at each side of my drive, and there it remains. 1 got better service when I was paying £4 a year in rates than I do now paying £22. There are two lights from Hargest crescent to Ballins. Anyone could be murdered there.—Yours, etc., SWEEP IT UNDER THE CARPET.

November 19, 1965. [The City Engineer (Mr P. G. Scoular) replies: “The spoil remaining from the excavation has been removed and channels and bridges will be checked and cleaned where necessary. The question of street lighting has been referred to the engineer of the M.E.D., who will investigate.”]
