U.E. Geography

Sir,—As the parent of a University Entrance student, 1 am concerned about the Geography paper. Was the question dealing with New Zealand outside this year's syllabus? If it was are those pupils who did not sit Geography as a School Certificate subject to be penalised? After all, that question might make the difference between success and failure.—Yours, etc., PARENT.

December 17, 1965. [The University Grants Committee replied: “The question in which New Zealand was cited dealt with a fundamental geographic principle which the candidate was expected to illustrate from his own day-to-day experi-

ence. The Universities Entrance Board does not consider that it was outside the syllabus.”]
