Paid Beach Patrols
The New Zealand representative, D. Dalton, is one of six surfers chosen as paid patrolmen to watch over the major swimming beaches near Christchurch throughout the school holidays. Dalton, who toured Australia with the national team last season, will patrol at New Brighton. The other patrolmen appointed by the Canterbury Surf Life-saving Club are:— Waimairi, P. Cooper; North Beach, R. Tremewan: South Brighton, B. Leask; Sumner, A. Bertenshaw; Taylor’s Mistake, P. Davies. Three of the patrolmen, Tremewan, Leask and Davies, all belong to the same club, Waimairi.
