Obituary MR A. J. CLARKE
(N.Z. Press Association? AUCKLAND, Dec. 19. The father of the All Black brothers, D. B. Clarke and I. J. Clarke, Mr Alexander James Clarke, died at his home at Hoe-o-Tainui, 17 miles from Morrinsville, today. Mr Clarke, who had just turned 60, was born at Rahotu, Taranaki. He was a blacksmith by trade and became a fanner in 1941. He farmed a property in Taranaki for five years before transferring to Waikato in 1946. Mr Clarke was an aboveaverage goal-kicker in club football. He was also a prominent bowler for many years.
Hotel Floor Collapses.—The middle floor of the 93-room Hotel Luz collapsed on Friday killing. 20 people and injuring 50, Havana Radio reports. —Havana, Dec. 19.
