VIETNAMESE BABY DEAD
“Adopted” By N.Z. Gunners (Special Crepdt. N.Z.P.AJ VO DAT, Dec. 19. The young Dun Hanh village baby “adopted” along with its family by a New Zealand artillery battery gun crew is dead. He died a week after his mother and one of his brothers were killed in an air strike before Australian and New Zealand forces took Due Nanh—and shortly after the battery moved to nearby Vo Xu village. The gun crew learnt this when they visited the family’s father and three surviving children at the end of “Operation Rice Bowl” in Vo Dat ■ valley.
