Four Cars Struck Poles

Four cars struck poles in Christchurch during the weekend. A car struck a tree, and a vehicle hit the island in the centre of Memorial avenue. When his car struck a pole in Riccarton road, near Walnut street, about 520 a.m. yesterday, Ewan Douglas Taylor, of 338 Clyde road, suffered severe lacerations to the head. He was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital. His car was extensively damaged about the front.

She was treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Geffrie Allan Williamson, of 23 Vogel street suffered leg injuries when a car struck a pole in Bassett street near Travis road about 6.30 p.m. on Saturday. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Cars Badly Damaged.— Three persons were injured when two cars, driven by Christine Mary Merritt, of 474 Worcester street «nd Albert Edward Falcon, of 51 .Ivory street Rangiora, collided in Marshland road, about 200 yards north of Briggs road, at 520 p.m. yesterday. Irene June Falcon. Christine Falcon, aged nine months, and Deborah May Falcon, aged six. of Ivory street were treated at the Christchurch Hosnital for minor injuries. Both vehicles were badly damaged. Head Injuries.—Elizabeth Grogan, of 16 Pavitt street Richmond, was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital suffering from head injuries after two cars collided at the comer of Colombo street and Oxford terrace about 4.30 pjn. yesterday. Three Car Collision.—Cars driven by Patrick Thomas Holland, of 528 Gloucester street and Gilbert Hands Nissen. of 442 Innes road, collided at the corner of Stanmore road and Avonside drive about 1.45 p.m. yesterday. Mr Nissen's car then crashed through the fence of Miss E. I. Sutton's property, at 104 Avonside drive. Mr Holland's car struck the car of James Walter Stackhouse, 20 Jolly street which was stationary in Avonside drive waiting to make a right turn into Stanmore road. Messrs Holland's and Nissen's cars wore extensively damaged.

Cars Collide.—Hoad and cheat injuries ware suffered by Sarah Boyce, of 33 Kensington avenue, when two cars coiUdad at the corner of Kllmorw and Colombo streets about 7JO pjn. on Saturday. She was admitted to Princess Margaret Hospital. Car Hits Island—When a car hit the island in the centre of Memorial avenue near Greers road about 10.40

Terrance O'Neil, of 287 River road, was treated at the Christchurch Hospital for head, arm and leg injuries after a motor-cycle struck the kerb in Selwyn street about 11.50 p.m. on Saturday. Treated At Hospital.— Judith Lavinia Edwards, of 149 New Brighton road, was treated at the Christchurch Hospital for bruises and minor head injuries after two cars collided at the corner of Fitzgerald avenue and Gloucester street about 7 p.m. on Saturday.

Car Hits Tree.—Marion Patricia Watts, of 14 Newall avenue, was admitted to the Christchurch Hospital suffering from head and chest injuries after a car struck a tree in Newall avenue about 12.5 p.m. yesterday. Car Rolls Over.—Two persons were injured when a oar rolled over in Springs road, Prebbleton, about 5 p.m. yesterday. Murray John Butcher, of 82 Somerfield street, and Margaret Clark, of 26 Norwich street, suffered head, arm and leg injuries. They were treated at the Christchurch Hospital. Motor-cycle Hits Kerb.— Arm and leg injuries were suffered by Tony Galbraith, of 265 Knowles street, when a motor-cycle hit the kerb at the corner of Hills road and Westminster street about 1 p.m. yesterday. He was treated at the Christchurch Hospital.
