SUPPLY OF EGGS

No Shortage Next Week (N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 17. There would be no shortage of eggs during the pre-Christ-mas week, and few places in New Zealand with shortages during Christmas, the marketing executive officer of the Poultry Board (Mr R. Cowdrey) said today.

Egg production was up by 80,000 dozen a week, compared with the same period last year, he said. “The egg situation is pretty right over the whole of New Zealand,” said Mr Cowdrey. “There is no suggestion of a shortage, and there are plenty of eggs to carry us through next week and over the Christmas and New Year period, too, though transport problems could cause some shortages over Christmas.”
