S.P.A.N.Z. FUTURE

Deputation To P.M.

(N.Z. Press Association) MASTERTON, Nov. 22. A public meeting tonight resolved to send a deputation to the Prime Minister (Mr Holyoake) and the Minister of Civil Aviation (Mr McAlpine) to ask that “an atmosphere be created whereby South Pacific Airlines of New Zealand is enabled to continue its present services.” The deputation will comprise local body and business representatives.

The Mayor of Masterton (Mr M. S. Tankersley) said the chairman of the National Airways Corporation (Sir Andrew McKee) had told him today that if S.P.A.N.Z. was not able to carry on a service to the Wairarapa N.A.C. would provide an air service. "The nature of the service could not be indicated at present, but it could be a feeder service connecting with the N.A.C. link,” Mr Tankersley said.

The member of Parliament for Wairarapa, Mr H. V. Donald. will introduce the deputation.
