PARTY SAFE
Spent Night In Hut
(N.Z. Press Association) TIMARU, Oct. 17. A bird survey team of three men and a woman was sighted from the air in the back country of the Simons Hill station this morning as search parties were preparing to leave Lake Tekapo and Lake Benmore.
The team set out on Saturday morning to walk down the banks of the Tekapo river and was to have been lifted out by jet boat on Saturday night. Bad weather and shallow water prevented the boat making contact.
The four set off across country to Simons Hill station and spent the night sheltering in a hut. They were believed to be Mr Brian Bell (leader of the party), Miss Elizabeth Bowie, Mr Allan Wright and Mr Terry Elliott.
