October 14 WEST COAST TRAFFIC.—The following is an official return, showing the number of people and the number of stock that have passed by the Bealey to and from the West Canterbury goldfields, for the week ending September 30,. 1865.» The number of males that have gone to the goldfields is 240, and of females 4. The number of males that have come from the goldfields is 60. The number of horses to the goldfield has been 50, and 24 from them. The number
of cattle that have passed have been 60, of sheep 220, and one other animal. The number of permanent residents at the Bealey is 100. For the week ending Oct. 7, 1865, the number of people that have gone to the goldfields has been 501, and of people from the goldfields 54. The number of horses that have passed to the goldfields is 90, and from the goldfields 50. The number of cattle that have passed is 94, and of sheep 45. The number of permanent residents at the Bealey has increased to 120.
