Select Five Of Baseball
(N.Z. Press Assn. —Copyright) HOUSTON (Texas), September 14. The San Francisco Giants baseball player, Willie Mays, joined a select group which includes only four others, Associated Press reported. Mays hit his 500th home run when his team played Houston. It was his 47th this year. Only Babe Ruth, with 714, Jimmy Fox, 534, Ted Williams, 521, and Mel Ott, 511, have hit more home runs than Mays, who is 34 and in his 14th major league season. Mays is the only active player among the five.
