Cinema Cuts Screenings
The Vogue cinema, Spreydon, will screen programmes only on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays during August, the secretary of the company, controlling the theatre (Mr M. F. Foate) said last night. However in the first week in September the cinema will return to its normal procedure of screenings six nights a week.
The reasons for the curtailed screenings were failing audiences because of cold weather and a change in booking schedules of films to be presented. Mr Foate said that television had had an affect on attendances.
“It has had an affect on the whole industry,” he said.
