DROP IN VALUE OF N.Z. GREASY WOOL

(New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, July 27. The value of greasy wool sold at auction in New Zealand during the 1964-65 season was £78.452,565 compared with £100,522,356 in the 1963-64 season.

These figures, which exclude wool re-offered on account of the New Zealand Wool Commission, have been issued by the New Zealand Wool brokers’ Association. In the season just ended 1,323,195 bales of greasy wool were sold compared with 1,309,565 bales last season. The average price per lb this season was 42.154 pence (54.989 pence last season) and the average price per bale was £59 5s lOd (£76 15s 2d last season.) Scoured wool sold at auction last season brought £1.758.284 19s 4d compared with £2,033,100 10s 2d the previous season.

The average price per lb was 57.728 pence (71.621 pence the previous season), average price per bale was £63 9s 6d (£77 14s 7d the previous season) and the average weight per bale 264 lbs (2601bs the previous season).
