CROSSING ATLANTIC
Man Is In 13ft 6in Boat (N.Z.P. A.-Reuter) CLEVELAND, (Ohio), July 13. A 48-year-old man is on his way to Britain in a 131 ft boat. Robert Manry, a newspaper sub-editor, left Falmouth, Massachusetts, abroad his sail boat Tinkerbelle on June 1. A batch of letters, picked up about a third of the way across the Atlantic by a passing ship on July 5, arrived in Cleveland yesterday. He wrote to his wife, Virginia, and his two children that the U.S. submarine Trench had offered help, but he had declined. He had also spoken to a Canadian Navy cruiser. In another letter he told his editor he might not be able to report for work on August 29, as he had promised.
