This sub-division of the Laboratory handles 3000 specimens annually in addition to autopsy material. A technician of at least four years’ experience is required. The Certificate of Proficiency in Hospital Laboratory Technology is not necessary, but preference will be given to an applicant holding this qualification. UNIVERSITY VACANCIES MASSEY UNIVERSITY OF MANAWATU JUNIOR RESEARCH OFFICER FOOD TECHNOLOGY DEPARTMENT A Junior Research Officer Is required to conduct research in the development of new products from eggs and egg powders. The successful applicant will be expected to work closely with the sales section of the Egg Marketing Authority in relation to the sales promotion of any products developed in this work. Applicants must have a degree in Home Science, Food Technology, or Science, and the appointment, will be for two years in the first instance. Salary is in the range £lOOO- - (x £5O) per annum. READER AND HEAD OF DEPARTMENT OF ITALIAN Applications are invited for appointment to a position of Reader in Italian at a salary of £A4300 p.a. plus superannuation similar to F.S.S.U. The appointee will also be required to assume the responsibilities of Head of the Department of Italian, for which an allowance of £A43"O p.a. will be payable. The staff of the Department in 1966 will include two full-time Lecturers and some part-time assistance. Italian is at present taught at first and second year levels. A third year course will be introduced in 1966, and honours candidates are expected in 1967. The future of the Department is most promising as Italian is taught in a number of schools, and is well established in the public examinations. The Italian community is also taking an active interest in the work of the Department. THE UNIVERSITY OF ADELAIDE WAITE AGRICULTURAL RESEARCH INSTITUTE The Waite Agricultural Research Institute is establishing a Research Station near Clare, and invites applications for appointment as OFFICER-IN-CHARGE DUTIES: The Officer-in-Charge will be responsible for the development, administration, and running of the unit. He will be expected to undertake research in the general field of pasture utilisation and animal production at the completion of the period of development of the Station. QUALIFICATIONS: A degree in Agricultural Science, Rural Science, or equivalent, and the necessary experience to establish and administer a Research Station are essential.
