Dunedin Teachers’ College Extensions

(New Zealand Press Association) . WELLINGTON, June 4. The Government has approved extensions to Dunedin Teachers’ College to provide for the change-over to three-vear teacher training in 1966.

: This was announced to- ■ night by the Minister of Education (Mr Kinsella). He said Dunedin was one iof two teachers’ colleges I which would initiate the' three-year training coursel ■ next year. The other was at: Hamilton where plans for ex-1 l tensions were already prepared. Mr Kinsella said the cost of the proposed extensions would be more than £300.000 ' The extensions would include new buildings and the re-1 modelling of existing buildings. He said the Dunedin college accommodated 490 students, and as a three-year college, the roll was expected to grow to between 900 and 1000.
