Record Prices For Glenmore Jerseys

What was thought to be a record average price—3s81 gns.—was paid for 135 head of stock at the Glenmore Jersey stud dispersal sale at Tauwhare, near Hamilton.
The turnover at the sale, held on account of the estate of A. C. Lovelock, was also thought to be a New Zealand record.
The auctioneers, Wright, Stephenson and Company, reported that the 71 cows sold averaged 400|gns, 26 in-calf heifers 322 l-3gns, four bulls 587jgns, two two-year-old bulls 300gns, and 32 yearling bulls 270 2-3gns. The top-priced cow. Glenmore Cupid Girl, was sold to Mr D. P. Ferguson, of
Ohaupo. for 1200gns. Three other cows brought more than lOOOgns. A. Meier, of Matangi, bought the top-priced in-calf heifer, Glenmore Gold Jewel, for 800gns.
R. C. Carter, of Matangi. paid the top price of 1150gns for a bull, Glenmore Direct. The sale marked the close of 48 years of breeding by the Glenmore Stud, which was founded in 1917 and became world-famed under the ownership of the late Mr Lovelock.
