CONFERENCE OF P.M.s

Balewa Seeks Venue Changes

(N Z.P.A.-Reuter—Copyright)

LAGOS. May 27.

Nigeria supported a suggestion that Commonwealth Prime Ministers’ conferences be held in rotation in different member countries, the Nigerian Prime Minister Sir Abubakar Tafawa Balewa, said.

Answering questions at a press conference, he said: “We support the view that meetings should be in rotation, particularly now that we are having a secretariat.” Asked about Nigeria’s position on Rhodesia at next month’s scheduled Commonwealth conference, he said Nigeria stood for a majority rule in the territory. “There is no reason why we should change this view.” Speaking about immigration regulations in Britain, Sir Abubakar Balewa said Nigeria was not much affected.

He said it was good for Britain to regulate immigration into the country. Nigeria would not like unlimited numbers of Commonwealth nationals to come and stay permanently in Nigeria.
