RECORD SUM COLLECTED
Cholmondeley Appeal
More than £l7OO, a record amount, was collected in yesterday’s Cholmondeley Home’s street day appeal. The previous record was £l6BO. Just over 300 collectors drawn from business firms, service clubs, and women’s organisations were on the streets of the city and suburbs from early morning until late at night.
Several boxes have still to be counted and it is expected that donations will continue to arrive for the next few days, said the president, Mr C. L. Paterson, and the secretary, Mrs E. Blackburn. Both expressed their gratitude to the public for the generous st / port. The Cholmondeley Home’s only source of income is public donations.
