Gold Award To Guide
The Gold Award—the highest honour in the Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme for girls—has been won for the first time in New Zealand, by an Otago land ranger guide. She is Miss Margaret McHugh, aged 19, of the North Dunedin Land Ranger Company. Miss McHugh, a laboratory technician at the Otago Medical School, was a brownie and a guide before becoming a land ranger. Now she is helping other girls with their work for the award.
