(N.Z. Press Association? WELLINGTON, March 1. Mr A. N. V. Dobbs, Army Secretary since 1957, has been named assistant director (administration) in the Department of Education. The State Services Commission announced this tonight. Mr Dobbs will replace Mr L. H. Graham, who has retired.

Since last year, Mr Dobbs has been designated Deputy Secretary of Defence (Army). Joining the Public Service in 1934, he served in the Labour Department. During the World War II he served in the R.N.Z.A.F. in New Zealand and the Pacific, becoming a squadron leader.

He was seconded to the Education Department in 1946 as administrative assistant during the reorganisation of that department, later inspected several departments including education for the Public Service Commission and for three years from 1952 was administration officer for the Ministry of Works. From 1955 to 1957 he was seconded to the Police Department during a major reorganisation.
