Rugby Union Mooted
(N.Z. Press Association)
NEW PLYMOUTH, Feb. 22. The possibility of forming a central district Rugby union consisting of Rotorua, South Waikato, Taupo and Tongariro, was suggested by the president of the Tongariro Rugby Sub-union, Mr L. A. Hine, in his annual report. When the Tongariro hydro-electric scheme was under way, the population of this combined area would be between 60.000 and 70,000, he said. On that basis, the subunion could, with the approval of the other areas, present a strong case to the New Zealand Rugby Union.
