RUGBY IN ROUMANIA
Approach To Australia

SYDNEY, February 22.
Rumania's approach to the Australian Rugby Union for the 1966 Wallabies to include a match in Bucharest on their world tour is to be fully explored, the “Sun Herald” said.
The A.R.U. treasurer, Mr Charles Blunt, who is to chair the International Rugby Board meeting in London next month, will make the inquiries. The Rumanian invitation was sent officially to the A.R.U. last month. Many Rugby officials feel that sooner or later Rumania and other European countries where interest in the game is mounting must be “recognised” by the international board, the “SunHerald” said.
The board comprises the four Home unions, New Zealand, South Africa and Australia.
France, alone of the European Rugby countries, can make submissions, and is included in international tour programmes.
Australian officials are asking where Rugby should draw the line, if at all, in the recognition of playing countries in an international sport. These officials feel that the domination of the code’s outlook by one group of unions is not helping its growth and hardly engenders the feelings the sport should arouse, the newspaper said.
