Increased Sales By Carpenter
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright)
SYDNEY, February 22.
W. R. Carpenter Holdings, Ltd., merchant and island trader, will pay an unchanged interim dividend of 7| per cent on April 30 after a good half-year to December 31.
The company reported today that merchandise sales of subsidiary and associated companies abroad had shown satisfactory increases.
The Australian-based companies all traded profitably. Copra mills had operated to full capacity and estate production had been satisfac-
tory and in keeping with budget, directors said. Fluctuations had occurred in island commodity and produce prices, mainly copra and cocoa. Copra had shown a marked increase in price and this had been reflected in higher prices, being obtained for coconut oil and copra. Cocoa prices showed a fall from the previous year.
The hurricanes and floods which occurred in some of the islands during the period under review did not affect the activities or the anticipated profits of these companies.
