Crackers, Not Shots
(N.Z. Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 29. Armed police of Wellington’s recently-formed special armed offenders’ squad raced to North terrace, Kelburn, shortly after 11 a.m. today in response to a message that shots were being fired in nearby bush.
They “surprised” a young man, but lost interest when he explained he had been burning old fire-crackers with rubbish in a 44-gallon drum.
