(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND, December 29 « Canter b ur y tennis player, W. Thom, had to default his quarter-flnai singles in the Catholic tennis championships today so he could return to Christchurch to attend a wedding as best man. Thom began his match with P. Kelly, of Manawatu, and lost the first set, 3-6. Results: Men’s Singles.—Quarter-finals: R. Wong beat F. Schwanner, 2-6, 6-1, 6-0; Kelly beat Thom 6- 6-0 (by default); N. Munor (Bay of Plenty) beat P. Fletcher, 7- 6-3; E. White beat R. Keenan, 7-9, 6-2, 6-3. Women’s Singles.—Quarterfinals: M. Wong beat C. Hinton, 6-3, 6-1; L. McCracken beat R. Walker, 6-0, 6-0; C. McLauchlan (Wellington) beat H. Johnston, 6-3, 6-1.
