TUCKS LTD. CLOSES
86-Year-Old Business One of the city’s bestknown food specialty shops, Tucks, Ltd., closed its doors for the last time on Christmas Eve. When it reopens in the New Year, it will be called the Card Gallery, selling occasional cards, books and magazines. Tucks was established in 1878. For the last 10 or 12 years it has been owned by National Distributors, Ltd., and recently has been called the Self Help Delicatessen. The building was sold for more than £20,000 to the daughters of Mr H. P. Smith, Mesdames R. H. Stewart and T. M. Beeston. The frontage will be remodelled. The layout of the gallery has been adapted from the design of a similar shop in Los Angeles.
