Second Party Of Police For Cyprus

WELLINGTON, December 22. Superintendent G. Tait, aged 49, of Wellington, will lead the second New Zealand police contingent to Cyprus for United Nations peace-keeping duties, Police Headquarters said today.

January 9. Those selected are: Sergeant G. Tait, aged 49, married; Detective-Sergeant J. L. Cagney, 26. married; Sergeant B. C. Attewell, 38 married; Detective B. P. Duncan, 27, married; Constable W. A. P. Back, 30, single; Constable R. E. Currey, 34, single, all of Wellington. Senior-Sergeant L. J. Grinwood, 38, married; Detective D. N. Stewart, 33, single, both of Christchurch. Constable P. Caldwell, 26, married; Constable F. ClagueChristion, 26, single; Constable J. P. McDonnell, 31, single; Constable D. W. Magee, 23, single, all of Auckland.

Detective N. B. Ashby, 32, single, Hastings. Constable D. J. Back, 30, single, Ashburton. Constable D. J. Wiseley, 24, single, Invercargill. Men of the first contingent who have chosen to remain for further duty are:— Constable R. E. Hawkins, 25, single; Constable A. J. Joyce, 26, single; Constable P. J. Purchase, 34, single, all of Wellington.

Tomorrow the contingent will- complete its training course at the Police School, Trentham, and will return home for Christmas and New Year. They will next assemble in Auckland before departure. They will fly to Cyprus by way of the United States and Britain. Plans for the return of the first contingent are incomplete but it is hoped the party will be able to spend a fortnight in Britain.
