Record Output Of Cement
Cement output reached a record level in the 1963-64 production year, says the Acting Government Statistician (Mr E. A. Harris). The production of 754,140 tons was 100,915 tons, or 15.4 per cent, more than in the previous year.
The value of cement in the latest year was £6.7 million, compared with £5.6 million in 1962-63. Added value for the whole industry increased from £4.6 million in 1962-63 to £8630 in the latest year. The increased output was achieved with a slightly reduced labour force; the value of output a person rising from £7OBO in 1962-63 to £8630 in the latest year.
