RUSSIA’S LEADERS
Supreme Soviet To Meet (N.Z. Press Assn.—Copyright) MOSCOW, Dec. 7. Members of the Supreme Soviet, Russia's Parliament, travelled to Moscow today to pass into law decisions of the leaders who succeeded Mr Khrushchev. Some top leaders appeared to be conferring in advance of the Soviets’ winter session, opening Wednesday. but an authoritative source said the Communist Party’s Central Committee did not meet during the day. Reports last week said the Central Committee—the group that voted Mr Khrushchev into oblivion on October 14—would meet today. Speculation among diplomats in Moscow about the business coming up includes the naming of the new First Deputy Premiers. Other speculation centres on the future of the Defence Minister, Marshal Rodion Malinovsky. He has not been publicly mentioned since November 27 and rumours suggest he may follow Mr Khrushchev into forced retirement.
